Create Your 10 Year Vision!

One of the most powerful goal-setting activities that I have ever completed was one that asked me to begin my goals by creating a vision for my life.

I began by closing my eyes, spending a few minutes silenting the chatter in my mind, and then picturing the life I dream of living - by this time next year.... then 5 years... and finally, in 10 years.  The details had to be crisp, clear, and every facet of my life had to be imagined.  No worries or justifications could come into the picture- this was just stream of consciousness - dreaming of what I wanted.

Once I had my vision (which is exciting!) - including my career, my health and my family and friends... I had to then put the ball in motion to make those things come into reality.  Life is all possibility- we are the ones who limit ourselves.  If we put a plan in place - truly anything is possible.

I came up with goals for the next year; for the next 5 years and then within the next 10 years.  - focused around work, health and personal.

This was a powerful experience for me - and it truly helped me to start advancing towards what I really wanted.  Since doing this goal-setting vision exercise, I have found that my actions  have now been focused around moving myself forward, towards that 10 year vision - I no longer hear excuses - just clear plans that keep me on track, stay passionate and happy.

I challenge you to do the same - close your eyes, be quiet for a while - no distractions.  Imagine the life you dream of 10 years from now.  Put the details to it every way possible.  What color is your home; what is your kitchen like?  What city do you live in?  Do you work?  What do you do?  What is your schedule like?  Do you have a family?   What's important to you?  What impact do you want to have in the world?  When you meet a stranger, how do you respond?  Do you smile often?  Yes... get to those details!!!

Once you have your vision, draw a table that outlines 3 categories and 3 timeframes

Categories: Career, Health, Personal
Timeframe: 1 year, 5 years, 10 years

Spend some time setting a goal for your career, your health and your personal life for the next year.  Then move onto the next 5 years.  And then, move onto the next 10 years.

You've now got your vision.  You've now got your plan.  Now go post your goals to the 30 Day Challenge facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/30-Day-Happy-Life-Challenge/349602101746804)  and/or share with your friends and/or family.  By telling people, it helps you to stay accountable.

Now, go after what you want.  After all - you have imagined it, so you can achieve it!
